Coward, Charles Joseph

Born in 1905, joined the British Army in 1937, taken prisoner by the Germans in May 1940, “Man of Confidence” (Vertrauensmann) of the British POWs in Auschwitz in the period Dec. 1943–Dec. 1944, liberation in 1945, return to England, testimony in Nuremberg in 1947 and in the Wollheim trial in 1953, recognized by Yad Vashem as “Righteous Among the Nations” in 1965, died in 1976.
